Add Margins to PDF

Add a white margin around every page of a PDF — room for printer grip, hole punches or handwritten notes — without shrinking or rasterising the content.

About this tool

Home and office printers cannot print to the edge of the sheet, and binders, punches and pens all need room the original export never left. This tool grows every page by the margin you pick — a quarter, half, three-quarter or full inch — with the original content centred at exactly its original size.

Because the sheet grows instead of the content shrinking, text stays the size it was set at and nothing is rasterised. What changes is the paper size, so check the new dimensions if your printer driver is picky about custom sizes.

How to use Add Margins to PDF

  1. Choose up to 20 PDF files (20 MB each).
  2. Pick the margin: 18, 36, 54 or 72 points (72 points = 1 inch).
  3. Download — every page is now larger by twice the margin, with the original content centred.

Keep the original files and inspect the exported result before publishing or sharing it.

Frequently asked questions

Does adding margins shrink my content?

No. The page grows around the content; the content keeps its exact size and stays selectable. The trade-off is a larger sheet size.

Why add margins?

Printers cannot print to the very edge, binders and hole punches eat the edge, and reviewers need somewhere to write. A margin fixes all three.

Can I remove the margins later?

Crop PDF with the same margin value trims the visible area back. Keep the original if you need the exact original file.

Are encrypted PDFs supported?

No. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs are rejected. Export an unlocked copy first.
