Remove PDF Annotations

Strip comments, highlights, sticky notes, stamps and mark-up from a PDF before sharing it — with the option to keep clickable links working.

About this tool

Review comments, highlights and stamps are working notes, not part of the document you send. This tool removes the annotation layer — comments, highlights, sticky notes, stamps, ink, and form widgets — while leaving the drawn page content exactly as it was.

Links can be kept so a cleaned document still clicks through to the web. Because form fields are annotations too, flatten a filled form first if its answers must survive as page content.

How to use Remove PDF Annotations

  1. Choose up to 20 PDF files (20 MB each).
  2. Decide whether to keep link annotations (on by default, so web links stay clickable).
  3. Download the cleaned PDFs — the result card counts what was removed.

Keep the original files and inspect the exported result before publishing or sharing it.

Frequently asked questions

Which annotations are removed?

Comments, highlights, underlines, sticky notes, stamps, ink drawings, form-field widgets and — unless you keep them — links. The drawn page content itself is untouched.

What about form fields?

Form fields appear as widget annotations, so they are removed as well. Flatten the form first (Fill PDF Form or Flatten PDF) if you want the answers kept as page content.

Can removal be undone?

Not in the output file — work on a copy and keep your annotated original.

Are encrypted PDFs supported?

No. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs are rejected. Export an unlocked copy first.
