QR code generator
Turn text or URLs into QR codes with selectable size and error correction. Download as PNG or SVG, all locally.
About this tool
A QR code is simply your text or link encoded in a form machines can read, and this generator builds one entirely in your browser — no short-link service, no tracking redirect and no expiry date; the code works for as long as scanners can read it and the destination it points to exists.
You choose the error correction level — how much of the code can be damaged or obscured while still scanning (about 7% at level L up to about 30% at level H) — and the output size, then download a PNG for documents and sharing or an SVG that stays sharp in print. The hand-written encoder supports QR versions 1–10 in byte mode, roughly 340 characters at the lowest correction level, and reports a clear error when text is too long instead of emitting a broken code.
How to use QR code generator
- Enter the text or URL to encode.
- Choose an error correction level and output size.
- Generate, preview, and download the PNG or SVG.
Keep the original files and inspect the exported result before publishing or sharing it.
Frequently asked questions
How much text can a QR code hold?
This encoder supports versions 1–10 in byte mode: up to about 340 bytes at error correction level L, fewer at higher levels. Longer text shows a clear error so you can shorten it or lower the level.
What do the error correction levels mean?
L restores about 7% of damaged data, M about 15%, Q about 25%, H about 30%. Higher levels make larger, denser codes. M is a good default for on-screen codes.
Do QR codes expire?
No. A QR code is only an encoding of your text. It keeps working as long as scanners can read it; a link inside can still break if the target page moves.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Encoding, rendering, and downloads all happen in your browser.
PNG or SVG — which should I download?
SVG scales without blurring and is best for print. PNG is best for quick sharing and documents.
