Trim audio

Cut a section from an audio file with a visual waveform. Export the selection as MP3 — all in your browser.

About this tool

Most audio trimming jobs are small: cut the silence off a voice memo, lift the chorus out of a recording, shorten a podcast clip for sharing. This tool decodes the file locally and shows its waveform, so the start and end are chosen by eye and ear — with a play-selection preview — instead of by guessing timestamps.

The export re-encodes the selected range to MP3 at the exact times chosen, which keeps cuts precise where stream-copy trimmers would snap to the nearest keyframe. One file at a time, up to 150 MiB, and nothing is uploaded.

How to use Trim audio

  1. Choose one audio file — its waveform appears here.
  2. Set the start and end of the part to keep, with the sliders or the time boxes. Play the selection to check it.
  3. Export the trimmed MP3 and download it.

Keep the original files and inspect the exported result before publishing or sharing it.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the cut?

The export re-encodes from the exact times you set, so the cut lands where the waveform shows — not at the nearest keyframe.

What format is the output?

MP3 at high variable bitrate (about 190 kbps). The source format does not matter; MP3 plays everywhere.

Can I trim silence from the ends?

Yes — zoom into the waveform edges with the sliders, set start just after the silent head and end just before the silent tail, then export.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The waveform is decoded and the trim runs entirely on your device.

What are the limits?

One file per trim, up to 150 MiB. Supported inputs: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, FLAC and OPUS.
