PDF to Text

Extract the embedded text of a PDF into a plain .txt file with page markers. Local, private, no upload.

About this tool

Sometimes you do not need a document at all — you need its words: for search, for notes, for feeding into another tool. This tool extracts the embedded text of every page into a plain .txt file, with a clear marker before each page so you always know where a passage came from.

The scope is honest: only embedded text comes out, in reading order. Scanned pages are pictures and extract as empty — there is no OCR — and layout survives only as the page markers. Extraction is capped at 2 million characters per batch and runs entirely in your browser.

How to use PDF to Text

  1. Choose up to 20 PDF files (20 MB each).
  2. Run the extraction — watch the per-page progress.
  3. Preview the text and download each .txt file.

Keep the original files and inspect the exported result before publishing or sharing it.
