JSON to CSV Converter
Flatten a JSON array of objects into a CSV file you can open in Excel or Google Sheets. Runs entirely in your browser — paste, convert, download, no upload.
When JSON needs to become a spreadsheet
APIs answer in JSON, but people review data in rows and columns. The data converter on this page flattens a JSON array of objects into CSV: keys become the header, each object becomes a row, and the file opens cleanly in Excel, Google Sheets or any tool that imports CSV. It accepts pasted text or files up to 5 MB, within limits of 20,000 rows and 200,000 cells.
Flat in, flat out
CSV is a flat format, so only flat data converts honestly: nested objects and arrays have no CSV representation and are not silently mangled into one. Missing keys and nulls become empty cells rather than errors, and formula-like cell text is protected with a leading apostrophe so a malicious or accidental value cannot execute when the file is opened in a spreadsheet. Need the reverse trip? Use CSV to JSON. The same tool also converts YAML to JSON and worksheets with Excel to CSV.
API data without the exposure
Pasting an API response into a random web converter means uploading it. Here the parse and the export both happen on your machine, so tokens, payloads and customer data stay put.
Frequently asked questions
What JSON shape can be converted?
A flat array of objects converts directly: each object becomes a row and the union of its keys becomes the columns. Nested objects and arrays inside values do not flatten into CSV, because CSV has no way to represent them.
What happens to missing keys and nulls?
Objects that lack a key get an empty cell in that column, and null or missing values become empty cells too. No rows are dropped because one object has fewer fields than another.
Why do some cells start with an apostrophe?
CSV exports protect formula-like text: a cell beginning with characters a spreadsheet would treat as a formula is prefixed with an apostrophe, so opening the file cannot trigger spreadsheet formulas from your data.
Will my numbers and dates survive?
Values are written as text in the CSV. Spreadsheets may reinterpret number-like and date-like text when opening the file — that is spreadsheet behaviour, not something the converter changes.
Is the JSON uploaded to a server?
No. Parsing and CSV generation happen locally in your browser tab, so API responses and internal data never leave your device.
