Word to PDF Converter

Convert Word documents to PDF without uploading them. Free, best-effort conversion in your browser — check the layout before sharing.

How the conversion works

Your .docx is parsed in the browser with mammoth, which reads the document's text and structure into clean HTML. That HTML is then rendered to PDF locally with html2pdf.js at your chosen page size. Two hops, zero uploads: the file never leaves your tab. Because Word's full layout engine is not replicated, treat the result as a faithful draft rather than a pixel-perfect export — for the DOCX-specific details, see DOCX to PDF.

What transfers well

The everyday stuff works: paragraphs, headings, bold and italic, bulleted and numbered lists, links and simple tables. If your document is a report, letter, resume or article built from these basics, the PDF will look right. Page size is your choice of A4 or Letter, applied consistently across the document. Font substitution is the one thing to watch: the browser renders with locally available fonts, so an exotic corporate typeface may fall back to a close match — the words stay identical either way.

What may differ

Two honest caveats. First, embedded images are skipped — the PDF carries text and structure only, so re-insert key figures from Word if they matter. Second, complex Word features do not fully translate: text boxes, equations, tracked changes, headers, footers, floating objects and exact pagination can shift. Always open the downloaded PDF and skim it before sending it to anyone important; if perfection matters, export from Word itself.

Private by design

Word documents are routinely confidential — drafts, applications, internal memos. Here the parse and the render both happen on your device, so the document's contents are never transmitted anywhere. Close the tab and nothing remains. And because there is no server in the loop, conversion starts instantly and works the same on a plane with no Wi-Fi as it does at your desk.

Frequently asked questions

Will the PDF match Word exactly?

Not always. Text, headings, lists and simple tables transfer well, but complex formatting, text boxes, equations and precise pagination may differ. Conversion is best-effort.

Are images included in the PDF?

No. Embedded images are skipped to keep conversion fast and private; the PDF contains the document text and structure.

What files are supported?

Modern .docx files up to 20 MB each. Legacy .doc, templates and password-protected documents are rejected.

Which page size should I pick?

A4 for most of the world, Letter for North America. It only affects page dimensions, not content.

Is my document uploaded anywhere?

No. The DOCX is parsed and the PDF rendered locally in your browser.
