Random UUID Generator

Generate random UUIDs in bulk for testing, seeding databases or minting unique IDs. Every value is drawn from cryptographic randomness in your browser — copy the list or download it as text.

Randomness you can rely on

"Random" is doing real work in this tool's name. Weak generators — seeded clocks, simple counters, Math.random — produce UUIDs that can repeat or be predicted. This UUID generator draws every value from the Web Crypto API, the browser's cryptographic random source, so each of the 122 free bits in a version 4 UUID is genuinely unpredictable. That is the quality level you want for anything that will act as a security boundary, such as password reset tokens or unguessable download links.

Built for bulk work

Most people who search for a random UUID generator do not need one ID — they need five hundred for a seed file, a load test or a migration script. Set the count, generate, and take the whole list in one copy or as a downloaded text file, one UUID per line, ready to paste into SQL, JSON or a fixture. If you specifically need the version 4 format explained and produced, the UUID v4 generator page goes deeper; for very large batches see the bulk UUID generator.

A quick uniqueness sanity check

With 122 random bits, the total space is about 5.3 × 10³⁶ values. Even a system minting a billion UUIDs a day would need longer than the age of the universe to expect a collision at meaningful probability. In practice, when teams do hit a duplicate ID, the cause is almost always a copied value or a buggy merge — never the randomness.

Private by design

Generation is local: no server sees your IDs, and no log of them exists. What you generate is yours alone.

Frequently asked questions

What does 'random UUID' mean exactly?

A UUID whose bits — apart from the fixed version and variant markers — come from a random source. Here that source is the Web Crypto API in your browser, which is suitable for security-sensitive identifiers, unlike a simple pseudo-random function.

Can two generated UUIDs ever be identical?

In theory yes, in practice no. With 122 random bits per UUID, you would need to generate around 2.7 billion billion (2.7 × 10¹⁸) of them before the chance of even one collision reached a coin flip — the birthday bound.

How many UUIDs can I generate at once?

Use the count field in the tool. For test fixtures, batches of hundreds or thousands are typical; each value is generated locally, so large batches simply take a moment longer on your device.

Are random UUIDs good for database keys?

Yes — they are the standard choice when records are created in more than one place. Their one known trade-off is index fragmentation in some databases compared with sequential or time-ordered IDs.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Generation happens entirely in your browser. The UUIDs exist only on this page until you copy or download them.
